GENRE: New Adult Contemporary Romance

Book Blurb:

Bobby Beckerson was the American All-Star hockey player--he was the spitting image of perfection to his family. Goofy, sweet and undeniably gorgeous, he had everything but the one girl he wanted: River Ahlers.
River Ahlers is successful in everything but love. She's been in love with Adam Beckerson since they were kids. Worst of all she's stuck right in the middle of the brother's dueling over everything and anything, and she doesn't even know she's the ultimate prize.
Adam Beckerson was a boy with a guitar, a smile that sunk girl's hearts and a stone wall around his own. He was anything but perfect, and no matter how hard he tried he was nothing compared to Bobby. Sweet, damaged, with boyish good-looks, nobody thought Adam loved anyone but himself.
Bobby loved River, River loved Adam and Adam only loved himself--or so everyone thought. Then one night everything changes, and as it threatens to destroy everyone involved a tragedy strikes that will break them all...

What Inspired the Novel?

Honestly, there wasn’t one thing in particular. My ideas for my novels often just come to me as one thought, and I build it from there. For Flawed Perfection I came up with the idea of two brothers and the girl next door as best friends. Then from there I started seeing the characters, and I saw River caught between the two boys. It was always very obvious to me who River loved. The quote that inspired the novel and drove most of its facets was “Bobby loved River, River loved Adam and Adam loved no one but himself…or so everyone thought.” Then I built it from there—Bobby the golden boy, easily loved, and always getting what he wanted—except for River. River is the determined girl, who grew up as one of the boys and fell in love with Adam when they were kids, and finally Adam, the misunderstood one. The one who never let anyone in because he was so often in Bobby’s shadow, that is except for River. Their relationships were what drove the book, and I had to look at what would make River love Adam over Bobby. They had to both feel misunderstood—outsiders in a family filled with love. Characters are inspired by a mash up of all the people you’ve met, seen or ran into. They don’t even have to be people you know either, but can merely be impressions that you were given. Inspiration comes from every which way, and similarities to real life people are merely coincidental because no one person really is that character.  The character comes to life in your head and becomes their own being, and suddenly you know them more than you know yourself. The characters growth as people in my head is what really inspired the novel, and drives the whole series. I throw a lot of challenges at them, and I know what is going to happen before they do. Then as I make it happen, I watch them grow—see how their personality can rise above, or fall behind. I truly love these characters, and each time I open the Word document to challenge them more—I fall in love with them even more. I become more inspired by them than before, and I hope I can show what great people they are. I hope I can do their lives justice.

Cassandra doesn't remember a time when she wasn't writing. In fact, the first time she was published was when she was seven years old and won a contest to be published in an American Girl Doll novel. In 2013 she branched out by using her artistic illustrating talents to publish her first Children's novel, The Adventures of Skippy Von Flippy: Tales of Friendship (Skippy Tales, #1). Cassandra released her first New Adult novel, Love Exactly, which became an Amazon Bestseller overnight in June of 2013. She's currently working on her new New Adult Contemporary Romance, Beautifully Flawed. The first novel in the series, Flawed Perfection is scheduled to be published on March 7, 2014.
