Even blackmailing her into another marriage.

Skylar is desperate to protect Jackson and Sutton from the truth coming out so she agreed to return to L.A. with Chris. However, she’s struggling with her decision to leave her family behind and is hell bent on getting back to them. She tries her best to stay on Chris’ good side until she can find some leverage to free herself but when Chris sets the date for their wedding it kicks Skylar's quest for freedom into overdrive.

Jackson and Sutton are confused and hurt by Skylar's unexpected departure. Sutton is very suspicious and has doubts about the nature of her mother’s sudden absence but not Jackson. He believes Skylar willingly left them and he’s furious. Skylar's abandonment devastates Jackson and pushes him into the arms of an unlikely companion.

Will Skylar find a way back to her family before Chris get what he wants? Or will there be a wedding in Skylar's immediate future?

I jolt upright in bed, clutching my chest and gasping for air. That was the worst dream ever. To my left, Jackson is sound asleep. Needing security but not wanting to wake him, I scoot closer and rest my head on his chest then wrap my arm around his waist. Hmm…home. Relief floods me as I lay draped around him. My heart rate returns to normal as I begin to relax. My dream was so vivid; it seemed so real. Jackson was sleeping with other women, his father had died, and Chris had attacked me and blackmailed me to desert my family. That was one hell of a nightmare. Jackson stirs in his sleep and slowly starts to wake.

“Morning, beautiful,” he says in his deep, sensual drawl. I love his voice in the morning. It’s much deeper and sexier and always makes me moist when I hear it.

“How did you know I was awake?”

“I told you, I’m psychic.”

I laugh. “No you’re not.”

“When it comes to you I am,” he says assuredly while stroking my hair.

“I love it when you run your fingers through my hair,” I tell him. I always have. There’s a tender possessiveness about the way he does it. It makes me feel wanted, desired and owed. That might sound strange but I don’t mind being his. I was from the first moment we met.

“I love it when you lay on my chest like this. I’ve missed it,” he states sadly.

“What are you talking about? I lay on your chest like this all the time.”

“Yeah, you used to. And I’ve really missed it these last two years.”

What is he talking about? And what happened to his voice? It’s a higher pitch and it’s missing that slight Texas twang that gives me chills.

“Skylar, did you hear me? Are you awake?”

Waking out of my half-conscious state, I stare up at the man in bed beside me. I squint from the bright sunlight shining in through the widows as I take in the sight of my ex-husband, Chris. He’s staring down at me with concerned eyes. Quickly, I remove myself from his chest and move as far away from him as I possibly can. Confusion still clouds my mind; I’m not sure what’s real and what’s not. Trying to ascertain if I’m awake, I pinch myself hard on the arm. The stinging of my probably bruised flesh convinces me that sadly, I am and everything I thought was a nightmare is all true.
